*Marie Noble was found at the west side of Flathead Lake this February 2009. Marie had drowned in July 2008 in Flathead during a family vacation from her home in California. Marie’s body was swept to the extreme depths of the lake where significant areas of pressure and heat had built up pockets of lye from decaying trees. Marie’s body stayed in a pocket of lye for 2 months, turning her body fat into soap. When Marie’s body was swept to shore she had been excellently preserved through saponification.
