Sculpture and Installation > 80 Million Gallon Summer 40 Million-Gallon Winter

U.S. Route 50 has been called the “loneliest highway in the USA”. Perhaps that is true for people, but not for woody desert fungi.
Due to the relative isolation of the land and the bounty of agitated ground due to increase seismic activity, the Podaxis mushroom and the Coccidioides immitis and Coccidioides posadasii are living together in symbiosis. These three have made a home in this golden ceramic pumpkin.
